Two people ordering food at a South Los Angeles burger joint were shot, one fatally, by two gunmen who walked up and opened fire, authorities said.
The shooting at Florence and Vermont avenues occurred late Monday, shortly before midnight, said Lt. Gina Sanders of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.
The dead man was identified as Donald Demond Hofkins, 31, of Los Angeles, said Craig Harvey of the coroner's office. Hofkins died at California Medical Center.
He and another person were standing at a window ordering food when two gunmen walked up and began shooting, Sanders said. The suspects fled on foot.
The other male was shot in the jaw and was listed in serious condition.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately determined.
Anyone with information on the attack was asked to call the LAPD's 77th Street Station at (213) 485-4164.
