Police Standoff Ends In South L.A.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A police standoff ended Tuesday with a suspect being loaded into an ambulance.

The suspect had reportedly been involved in a pursuit at 41st and Naomi after police attempted to stop the vehicle prior to the standoff, according to authorities.

Between 50 to 70 police vehicles and SWAT units had been involved in the standoff near Avalon Boulevard and 59th Place, according to Amelia Earhart, who was overhead on Sky 2.

It was not immediately clear if shots had been fired, although several bullet holes were seen in the suspect's vehicle. The suspect's current condition was not known.

Avalon was shut down in both directions between Slauson and Gage, Earhart reported.
