An auto mechanic who sexually assaulted five women at the Garden Grove repair shop where he worked was sentenced to 14 years in state prison Friday.
Adrian Montano Fuerte, 39, who worked at Econo Lube and Tune at 6962 Chapman Ave. between Oct. 30, 2007, and Dec. 15, 2007, was convicted by a jury Aug. 31.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Lance Jensen sentenced Fuerte, who faced up to 15 years in state prison.
Fuerte lured his victims, who ranged in age from 18 to 60, into a dark, secluded service pit under the guise of showing them necessary repairs on their cars, said Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's office.
Two other victims came forward to report assaults to Garden Grove police after hearing about the initial investigation, Emami said.
One woman testified that she was so scared while Fuerte assaulted her
that she did not scream for help, thinking that his co-workers might do the same, Emami said.
One of Fuerte's victims told the judge at Friday's sentencing that the attack has made her less trusting.
Fuerte was convicted of one count of rape, a count of assault with the intent to commit rape, two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery and a misdemeanor count of battery.
