A fire caused by "candles and incense" damaged two units of a condominium building in Santa Monica on Wednesday and left one woman with minor injuries, authorities said.
Firefighters sent to 1422 19th St. at 2:05 a.m. doused the flames in about 20 minutes, said Santa Monica fire Capt. Scott Ziegert.
Fire was burning through the roof of the three-story townhouse when firefighters arrived, according to reports from the scene.
The woman living in the fire-damaged condominium was awakened by a smoke alarm, and escaped with minor injuries, Ziegert said. She was treated at the scene. A second unit next to that one sustained some smoke damage.
"Fire investigators reported the fire was caused by candles and incense," Ziegert said.
A damage estimate was not immediately available. Inspectors will have to determine if there was structural damage to the building.
