Santa Ana Police Kill Man Who Grabbed Gun

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) ― A man who police say grabbed an officer's gun has been shot and killed after a struggle with several officers in Santa Ana.

Corporal Jose Gonzales of the Santa Ana police department says officers were answering a call reporting a possible armed suspect on Tuesday night when they came across a man who they told several times to leave the area.

When the man refused, the officers tried to search him and a struggle broke out.

Gonzales says the man grabbed an officer's handgun during the tussle and tried to pull it out of its holster, spurring another officer to shoot the man several times.

The wounded man was pronounced dead at a hospital later Tuesday night.

Police say several officers had minor injuries but none required medical treatment.
