New Fire Ignites In San Bernardino, Closes I-215
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) ―
Another new wildfire is burning in San Bernardino.
Authorities say several hundred homes are threatened and Interstate 215 remains closed.
San Bernardino Fire spokesman Steve Tracy says the fire broke out Tuesday morning in the city's Little Mountain area just east of I-215 and north of I-210.
Tracy says several hundred homes are threatened.
He says the fire is spreading quickly amid winds of 15-to-20 miles per hour.
Classes are canceled at Cal State San Bernardino and evacuated esidents are being sent there.
Another fire along the 215 on Monday burned two buildings.
A homeless man was arrested for starting that blaze with cigarette butts.
The freeway had been closed Tuesday morning while firefighters mopped up the Monday fire.
