Missing 9-Year-Old Found Safe In Mexico

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) ― Family members of a missing 9-year-old boy have had their prayers answered.

Ryan Ramos was found at a Mormon church in Juarez, Mexico on Sunday. He was taken to the consulate there to await return to California.

Orange County Sheriff's authorities say the boy's father, 46-year-old Lonnie Ramos, shot his estranged wife in the face on Wednesday when she went to his home to pick up their son after a custody visit.

Gynnae Ramos was critically wounded but expected to survive.

After the shooting, an Amber Alert was issued but authorities got a tip that Ramos had crossed the border to Mexico near Andrade, a small town in Imperial County.

Authorities are still searching for Ramos.
