Police Friday arrested a man, who was allegedly involved in an armed robbery at a Walgreens store in North Hills, after an hour-long standoff in Van Nuys.
No one was injured in the alleged robbery, which was reported at around 6:30 a.m. in the 15300 block of Nordhoff Street, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office.
At that time, the burglars almost got away with an ATM machine, but they crashed their getaway car near the 405 freeway and Roscoe Boulevard. Inside the green Chevrolet Astrovan, detectives found a U.S. Bank ATM machine.
The suspect surrendered at about 8:15 a.m. after a standoff with police during which he paced back and forth on the roof of a warehouse near Haskell Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, Eisenman said.
The man climbed down an access ladder on the outside of the building and surrendered.
Officers sought at least two other suspects who fled the crime scene.
