A man was shot and wounded Wednesday morning during an attempted robbery in Hollywood, authorities said.
The robbery, near North La Brea Avenue and West Sunset Boulevard, was reported at 2:03 a.m., said Officer Julie Boyer of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.
The victim, a man in his 30s, had been driving a vehicle but pulled over because his female passenger was feeling sick, Boyer said. While he stood outside his vehicle, a light-colored SUV drove up and a man riding in the passenger seat demanded he give him all his money, she said.
When the man told the robber that he did not have any cash, the assailant shot him in the leg before the SUV sped off, Boyer said.
The victim was hospitalized in stable condition, she said.
A description of the shooter was not immediately available.
