Bandits who forced their way into a Sylmar home Friday tied up the family inside and ransacked the place, taking off with valuables, a police sergeant said.
The home invasion in the 14000 block of Hubbard Street occurred about 1:35 a.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. Francisca Wheeling of the Mission Station said.
A group of five male suspects, described as being Hispanic and armed with guns, knocked on the door. When a man opened, the suspects forced their way in, tying up the man and other family members, Wheeling said.
After rummaging through the residence, the robbers fled with undisclosed personal items, she said.
The man who was struck suffered minor injuries, she said, adding that no others were hurt.
