Get ready for some record-breaking heat! The sweltering hot weather hit 101 degrees in Woodland Hills Friday and expected to continue throughout the weekend. Saturday's highs at the beaches are expected to be nice, in the mid-70s to lower-80s, but inland and in the valleys, temperatures will range from the mid-90s to over 100 degrees.

Trolley Bus Loses Brakes, Crashes At The Grove

A double-decker trolley bus has lost its brakes late Friday and crashed at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles. Fire spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies says an unknown number of bus passengers were injured and emergency crews are at the scene.

Victorville Rancher Shoots Ostrich-Killing Coyote

An ostrich rancher from the Victorville area says he shot a coyote after it killed 22 of his birds. Doug Osborne, who has been ranching in the Victor Valley since 1994, says he decided to kill the coyote after San Bernardino County sent two of its best trappers to catch the animal but they were unsuccessful.

3 Dead In Wrong-Way Crash On I-5 In Commerce

The three people killed in a wrong-way freeway crash today on Interstate 5 in City of Commerce have been identified. A wrong-way driver slammed into a car full of people, killing two women and himself. Two other people were critically injured.

California winemaker Robert Mondavi has died at age 94. A spokeswoman for the Robert Mondavi Winery says the pioneering vintner died peacefully at his home in Yountville Friday.

45-Acre Brush Fire In Pomona 50 Percent Contained

A wildfire is sweeping through brushlands dangerously close to homes in Pomona. The 25-acre fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. in rolling hill country. Several blocks of homes are next to the creeping flames. Fire crews have been sent to protect the houses and set up firelines around the flames that are sending up white smoke above acres of yellow brush that provides quick-burning fuel.

420-Acre Big Horn Fire 60 Percent Contained

A 420-acre forest fire that has been burning near Mount Baldy since Tuesday was 60 percent contained Friday, officials said. More than 750 firefighters from various agencies were assigned to the blaze in the Angeles National Forest, which started about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near Mount Baldy. The fire began in San Bernardino County, but quickly spread into Los Angeles County.
