Ex-Cop Admits To Accessing Files For Pellicano

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A former Beverly Hills police officer has testified that he received about $10,000 from indicted private investigator Anthony Pellicano to illegally access criminal databases.

In testimony Tuesday, Craig Stevens says he began working with Pellicano in the early 1990s after they met through their daughters.

Stevens estimates Pellicano asked him for police reports, criminal histories and driving records as many as 100 times.

Pellicano and four other co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to using wiretaps and other tactics to dig up dirt to help clients in legal and other disputes.

Stevens, who now works as a grocery clerk, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud and four counts of unauthorized access of protected computers to commit fraud.
