A 24-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant, had to undergo an emergency C-section after being struck by a dark-colored Range Rover, officials said.
Porche Davis was struck by a hit-and-run driver on the 300 block of East 102nd Street and Towne Avenue in South Los Angeles at 10:24 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to officials, her baby was placed on life support, but later died at 6:30 p.m.
"Obviously it was an act of rage or jealously but there's no justification," Porche's father Milton Davis, told
CBS 2 / KCAL 9 NEWS.
Los Angeles police Officer Karen Smith of the Media Relations Section said there was a some type of dispute between Porche Davis and the driver prior to being struck.
Monica Macado, the driver of the Range Rover, turned herself into police Sunday, according to Smith.
Milton Davis said Macado is the baby's father ex-girlfriend and has had confrontations with his daughter before.
Investigators are interviewing Macado and charges are pending.
