Man Wounded In Pomona Shooting
POMONA, Calif.
A 26-year-old man was recovering in a hospital Thursday after being critically wounded in a shooting in front of his Pomona home, only blocks away from the scene of a fatal shooting that occurred 24 hours earlier.
Hugo Marquez of Pomona was shot and wounded in the 1700 block of South Huntington Street near Fremont Street just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Matt Stone of the Pomona Police Department said.
Two gunmen walked up to the front of the residence and fired multiple rounds, striking Marquez in the upper body, Stone said.
The pair then fled in a dark compact headed northbound on Huntington Street, he added.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department airlifted Marquez to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition but expected to survive, Stone said.
It was not immediately clear whether the attack was connected to Tuesday night's shooting in the 700 block of Mayfair Avenue, between White and Park avenues, which was also reported just after 9:30 p.m., Pomona police Lt. Mark Warm said.
But he said it is possible the two shootings were related.
Killed in Tuesday night's violence was 71-year-old Pomona resident Florence Anderson.
A 36-year-old man and his 17-year-old son were also wounded in the attack, police said.
Anyone with information on either case call the Pomona Police Department's tip line at (909) 620-2085.
