Boy Killed After Being Struck By Van In Pomona

POMONA, Calif. (AP) ― A 1-year-old boy has been killed in Pomona after authorities say he ran in front of a van and was struck.

Police say the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m.

The van's driver, 50-year-old Larry Shyne, drove the boy to a hospital with
one of the child's relative.

The boy, whose identity wasn't immediately released, suffered major injuries and died at the hospital.

Police Sgt. Michael Olivieri says it appears the boy went into the street from the sidewalk and was hit by the van.

No citations or arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
