Car Burglary Suspects Arrested After Police Chase
WHITTIER
Two men were arrested Monday in Whittier for auto burglary following a short police pursuit, authorities said.
It began at 2:45 a.m. when Whittier police were called to the 14400
block of Tedemory Drive where a resident had reported the suspects were
tampering with her neighbor's car.
The car was being driven away as police arrived. Officers tried to stop
it, but a short pursuit began instead, according to a Whittier Police
Department news release.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle but quickly discovered it abandoned a
short distance away. After a containment perimeter was set up, one suspect was arrested almost immediately and a second one arrested 15 minutes later.
Police discovered two other cars in the area which had been burgled and
based on the property inside the car, they assume there are additional victims.
Richard George and Christopher Fernandez, both 18 and living in the
unincorporated Whittier area, were arrested.
