Pedestrian Fatally Struck By DUI Suspect In L.A.

LOS ANGELES A pedestrian was killed Sunday by an alleged drunken driver, police said.

The victim died at the scene, and his name was not released pending notification of his family.

The driver, Jose Luis Gonzalez Guzman, 50, was driving a minivan east on Vernon Avenue about 12:15 a.m. when he hit a man walking across Vernon at Central Avenue, said Los Angeles police spokeswoman Sara Faden.

Guzman was arrested for suspicion of felony manslaughter.
