A driver overturned on a Sherman Oaks freeway Monday, prompting authorities to shut down one side of the freeway and declare a SigAlert, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The single-car accident on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway just south of Greenleaf Street occurred at around 1:15 a.m., CHP Officer Anthony Martin said.
One person was transported to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, according to a camera crew at the scene. The motorist has not yet been identified.
Witnesses told police a driver lost control of the car, hit a hill and then rolled over, the camera crew reported.
The northbound number 2, 3, and 4 lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed and a SigAlert was declared about 2 a.m. by the CHP.
The lanes were reopened shortly after 6 a.m., the CHP reported.
