Rival Gangs Get Into Brawl In O.C. Courtroom

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) ― Authorities say rival Costa Mesa gang got into a brawl in the middle of a Newport Beach courtroom.

Police say the two groups were in a courtroom where cases are introduced and assigned elsewhere when they recognized each other on Wednesday.

Police Sgt. Bryan Wadkins says a member of one group overheard the other talking about a previous fight.

One of the groups suggested going outside, but the other wanted to go at it right in the courtroom.

Wadkins said none of the brawlers had more than minor facial injuries.

Two 18-year-old and two 19-year-old men were arrested after the fight by Sheriff's deputies at the court.
