A motor home caught fire and burned on the side of the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass, backing up traffic past Los Angeles International Airport, officials said Saturday.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene on the northbound freeway at Skirball Center Drive at 9:19 a.m., said Los Angeles city fire spokesperson Ron Myers.
By 9:30, California Highway Patrol officers had blocked half of the freeway's northbound lanes on the only major link between West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Northbound traffic was inching along through West Los Angeles.
