VAN NUYS, Calif. A man was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Van Nuys on Wednesday, according to reports from authorities.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the injury, which occurred about 8 a.m. near Raymer Street and Bellaire Avenue, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Metrolink spokeswoman Denise Tyrell said train No. 106, which originated in Ventura at 6:44 a.m. and was due to arrive at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles at 8:38 a.m., struck the person at 8 a.m. and stopped between the Van Nuys and Burbank stations. She described him as a trespasser.

Both tracks were shut down for an investigation, Tyrell said.
