Deputies following up on a forged Vicodin prescription found a makeshift mescaline laboratory inside a Yucaipa home.
San Bernardino County sheriff's Sgt. Gary Odebralski says detectives thought they stumbled upon a methamphetamine lab, but jugs of chemicals weren't consistent with meth production.
After a few telephone calls, it was determined a couple was producing hallucinogenic mescaline, which is derived from peyote cactus.
Twenty-four year old Adam Caward and 23-year-old Ashley Clark are in jail. They were charged Thursday with manufacturing and possessing mescaline and marijuana for sale.
