With no tickets sold with all six winning numbers in the latest multi-state Mega Millions draw, the jackpot for Friday's drawing will grow to $270 million, matching the game's fifth-largest, lottery officials announced Tuesday night.
Fifteen tickets had 5 numbers each, but none had the Mega number. Each is worth $250,000. One was from California, and one each Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Ohio and Washington, two in Michigan, three in New York and four in Texas.
The numbers drawn tonight were 1, 38, 42, 55, 56 and the Mega number was 34. The jackpot was $220 million, the ninth largest in the game's history.
The drawing was the 14th since the last time one ticket with all six
numbers was sold.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number are 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions Web site.
With the jackpot growing, California Lottery officials reminded the public that borrowing money to play, spending above a person's budget or using money intended for other purposes can ultimately lead to significant problems for players and their families.
People with gambling problems or knowing individuals with gambling problems are advised to call the Problem Gambling Help Line, (800) Gambler.
