Falling Rock Kills 18-Year-Old Man In Lytle Creek

LYTLE CREEK, Calif. (AP) ― Authorities say an 18-year-old hiker was killed by a falling rock while hiking in the San Bernardino County mountain community of Lytle Creek.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers says the man was hiking with a companion near a shooting range Sunday afternoon when the rock hit him on the head.

An air rescue crew lowered a paramedic who performed CPR on the man, but he could not be revived and was declared dead.

Authorities did not immediately release the man's name.
