Look for some long lines at post offices Monday, which is traditionally the busiest mailing day of the holiday season as people rush to get their cards and packages to their destinations before Christmas.
The U.S. Postal Service expects to deliver 19 billion letters, cards and packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
About 1.5 billion cards, letters and packages are expected to be processed today alone, which is nearly double the average daily volume of traffic.
The busiest delivery day for letter carriers is expected to be Wednesday.
Los Angeles Postmaster Mark Anderson reminded customers that Priority Mail sent by Saturday will arrive in time for Christmas.
Customers can also cut their stress by doing all their shipping online at usps.com, Anderson added.
"You can print postage and shipping labels directory from your computer with Click-N-Ship," he said. "We offer price savings when you ship online and you get free delivery confirmation when you use Click-N-Ship."
