A 36-year-old Long Beach woman suspected of taking some of her eight children along when she allegedly sold heroin was charged on Wednesday with 16 counts, including child abuse and selling a controlled substance.
Enedina Cardona, who was arrested Monday by Long Beach police and found with about $10,000 in cash, is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Long Beach Superior Court.
The woman allegedly had her 3-year-old son, 6-year-old son and 13-year-
old daughter in her car when she sold drugs to undercover police on May 19, authorities said.
She allegedly had the 3-year-old boy and the 6-year-old boy in the car during two other drug transactions May 27 and May 28, according to officials.
Her eight children range in age from 3 to 16, authorities said.
The children were put in protective custody, Long Beach police Sgt. Paul LeBaron told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
She is charged with three counts of sale, transportation or offer to sell heroin, and one count of possession for sale of heroin -- all felonies.
Cardona also is charged with 12 misdemeanor counts of child abuse.
Prosecutors were asking that Cardona's bail be set at $120,000.
