Mormon, who is from San Jacinto, allegedly failed to pull over. Instead, he fled east on Cottonwood Avenue at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour. Ground units did not pursue him, but a police helicopter monitored his activities, according to the sheriff's department.

Mormon then allegedly ran a red light and struck a white Ford Taurus. He fled on foot and was arrested in a nearby back yard.

The Taurus' driver was uninjured, authorities said.

Deputies found 3.5 ounces of a substance believed to be methamphetamine under the seat of the wrecked motorcycle. They estimate the street value of the drug to be about $8,000.

Mormon was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of sales, fleeing the scene of an accident and fleeing from a peace officer, according to the sheriff's department.
