The Los Angeles teachers union has reached a tentative contract agreement with the school district, one month after teachers threatened a strike authorization vote.
United Teachers Los Angeles announced the deal Tuesday, noting that the district did not agree to salary raises but will fully fund health benefits.
The union says the contract also includes a clause promising no reprisals for teachers to participate in union actions and boycotts. Portions of the deal could be reopened next school year.
After negotiating with the district for more than a year and a half, the union had scheduled a strike authorization vote for March but postponed it indefinitely when the two sides settled on health benefits.
Union members and the school board must vote on the contract. No date has been set.
The district was expected to release a statement Wednesday.
