The pilot of a small plane that crashed in Kern County after flying over a Fourth of July parade was identified.
The sister-in-law of David Zweigle said the 42-year-old pilot was the manager of the Tehachapi Municipal Airport. The passenger's name has not been released.
Authorities said the plane hit a field on Saturday and skidded onto a road. The plane burst into flames, sparking a large grass fire that grew to about 2.5 acres.
The plane was among three that flew over the city-organized parade.
