A 50-year-old man will appear in juvenile court after being arrested for the 1975 rape and murder of an elderly woman in Los Angeles.
Deputy District Attorney Eva Stodel says a DNA match came back three weeks ago identifying the man as a suspect in the death of 80-year-old Alice Lewis.
The defendant's name is being held until an Inglewood juvenile court judge rules he can't be tried as a minor. The suspect, who is slated for a court appearance Friday, was 16 at the time of the crime.
The man was picked up by police on an unrelated drug crime that led to a swab of his DNA being taken by authorities.
Los Angeles police arrested the suspect Tuesday. He is being held without bail.
