A Perris man who allegedly shot an acquaintance in the chest during an argument outside a Moreno Valley home was arrested Sunday.
Jimmy Jonte Cruz, 18, was arrested in connection with a shooting in the 16000 block of Calle Pinata, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Cruz and a male acquaintance apparently were arguing outside a home when the suspect allegedly pulled a handgun and fired once into the other man's chest, sheriff's investigators said.
Friends drove the victim to Riverside County Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and is expected to recover, authorities said.
Witnesses reported that that Cruz fled in a white Pontiac sedan traced to a Perris home, where the suspect was arrested without incident Sunday
morning, according to the sheriff's department.
A search of Cruz's home turned up a firearm allegedly matching the type used in the shooting, authorities said.
Cruz was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.
