The Inglewood City Council says the shooting by police officers of a homeless man carrying a toy gun was captured on video.
In a written statement released Tuesday night, the city says onboard cameras in Inglewood police squad cars captured the Aug. 31 incident, in which seven officers fired a combined 47 times.
The statement says the videos are being used by investigators.
Eight officers have been placed on administrative leave and city officials have ordered a review of police training after the fatal shooting, the fourth in four months by Inglewood officers.
A city spokesman and an Inglewood police spokesman did not immediately respond to phone messages left late Tuesday.
An Inglewood police watch commander says he does not know if there are plans to make the video public.
