The Los Angeles Fire Department says a freeway accident in the San Fernando Valley has injured seven people -- five seriously.
Firefighter David Ortiz says five to six cars were involved in a crash shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday.
The California Highway Patrol says the crash occurred on the transition road between Interstate 405 and U.S. Highway 101 and at least one car overturned.
One person had to be cut free of the wreckage.
Ortiz says there were seven people injured. Five people were taken to trauma centers in serious condition and two were treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
