A woman was killed early Monday morning in a house fire, authorities said.
Firefighters found the body of the unidentified woman, who was believed to be about 50 years old, in an upstairs bedroom of a two-story triplex in Ladera Heights near Culver City, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Mike Brown said.
The woman was declared dead at the scene.
The blaze was discovered by firefighters who smelled smoke after dealing with an unrelated call, Brown said.
They knocked down the fire in about 40 minutes before finding the woman.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
