A man was pistol-whipped Wednesday morning during a home invasion robbery in Hollywood by two thieves who fled from his apartment with roughly $1,500 in property, authorities said.
The robbery at 1750 Wilcox Ave. was reported at 1:44 a.m., said Officer Julie Boyer of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.
The man was standing in front of his apartment building when two men walked up, pointed a gun at him and demanded to be brought to his apartment, Boyer said.
The victim took the thieves to his unit, where six of his friends and roommates were hanging out inside, she said.
The suspects ordered everyone to lie on the floor while they rifled through the occupants' belongings, then left with computer equipment, cell phones, music equipment and credit cards, Boyer said.
The robbers fled with some $1,500 in property, said Sgt. Don Lawrence of the LAPD's Hollywood Station.
During the holdup, the man who was held at gunpoint was pistol-whipped by one of the assailants but did not suffer serious injury, Boyer said.
The robbers were both black and appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 30. One of them was 5 feet 11 and weighed about 160 pounds, and the other was 6 feet 3 and weighed about 300 pounds, Boyer said.
