Three hikers walked away after being airlifted out of a remote area of the Angeles National Forest Saturday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials said.
A sheriff's air rescue unit responded to a call at 2:15 p.m. along the Dawn Mine Trail in Millard Canyon, sheriff's Deputy Rick Pedroza said.
The rescue unit found the three adult hikers perched "along a sheer cliff 100 feet above the canyon floor," Pedroza said.
The three victims had been hiking for more than four hours when they became disoriented and started to suffer the onset of dehydration, Pedroza said.
The hikers had perched on the precipice to find shade under the canopy of a few trees, according to Pedroza, adding that the three yelled for help for more than an hour before they were able to get cell phone reception and dial for help.
Because of their position on the cliff, the hikers were rescued by a deputy paramedic lowered from the helicopter.
None of the hikers were injured.
