LAFD Warns Of Griffith Park Fire Donation Scams

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― The Los Angeles Fire Department warned Wednesday that scam artists have been trying to solicit donations from people in the name of firefighting organizations in response to the Griffith Park fire.

"Firefighters absolutely will not solicit donations," said Ron Myers of the LAFD.

Myers said people receiving solicitation phone calls should refrain from giving money, and ask the solicitors for information and pass it along to local law enforcement organizations.
