LOS ANGELES On the one-year anniversary of gas prices hitting record levels, the price of fuel in the Los Angeles market went down Sunday.

The drop in prices ended a recent 48-day upward streak.

According to figures from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price rose 69.3 cents during the streak, including one-tenth of a cent Saturday.

In Orange County, the average price rose two-tenths of a cent to $3.023, a day after declining two tenths of a cent in the first daily decline May 2.

The Orange County average was 3.9 cents more than a week ago and 45.3 cents more than a month ago, but $1.572 less than a year ago.
