Man, 11-Year-Old Killed In Gang-Related Shooting
LOS ANGELES
Police searched Monday for a gunman who killed an 11-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man in an apparent gang-related shooting near the Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Steven Munoz, 11, and Luis Rodriguez, 18, of Long Beach were sitting with a group of people near Connecticut and Valencia streets, just south of Olympic Boulevard, when someone in a passing car fired at them several times around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Karen Smith, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.
Both victims fled and were later found outside an apartment building in the 1400 block of West 11th Street, about a block from the shooting scene,
Smith said.
Munoz was pronounced dead at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Rodriguez was taken to California Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Smith said.
Witnesses said another person was shot, possibly in the foot, but police have been unable to locate that victim.
