Police said a man arrested in South Los Angeles after an hours-long hunt was not the stepfather of a murdered 6-year-old.
Officer Karen Rayner said officers thought the man they began chasing Tuesday night was 36-year-old Marcas Fisher, who's considered a "person of interest" in the beating death of his stepson last week in a South Los Angeles home.
Police aided by aircraft and dogs combed the area overnight. Police said they finally captured him early Wednesday but he turned out to be 18-year-old Carlos Horta, not Fisher. Horta was arrested on misdemeanor warrants.
Fisher's stepson, Dae'von Bailey, was found dead last Thursday.
The Los Angeles Times said the boy had been the subject of about a dozen calls to a county child-abuse hot line.
