Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car

HAWTHORNE, Calif. A pedestrian in his 70s was killed early today when he was struck by a vehicle in Hawthorne, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 1:20 a.m. in the 4100 block of West Imperial Highway.

Authorities closed a section of the roadway while an investigation was conducted, said California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin.

Authorities withheld the man's name pending notification of his relatives.
