Teen Shot To Death At Party In South Gate

SOUTH GATE, Calif. A 17-year-old boy attending a party in South Gate was shot to death Sunday, a sheriff's deputy said.

The boy was shot multiple times in the upper torso shortly after midnight outside a party in the 3200 block of Tecumseh Avenue, said Deputy
Johnie Jones of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

"The mom's not good," the victim's aunt, Shelly Hernandez, told KCAL9. "The family's just torn apart. Devastated -- all of us."

The coroner's office has yet to identify the boy, but memorial signs at the shooting scene shown on KCAL9 identified him as Enrique Ramirez.

His older brother, sensing something was wrong, woke up in the middle of the night and went looking for him, the TV station reported.

He found the teen lying in the street.

"He was just a good boy," Hernandez said. "He was standing out here holding some balloons and somebody went up to him and just shot him five times."

Investigators told the TV station that although there were lots of witnesses at the party, they had little information on the killer.
