Poll: California Voters Oppose 5 Of 6 Measures
SACRAMENTO (AP) ―
Just three weeks before they go to the polls, California voters say they are opposed to five of the six special election ballot measures.
A Field Poll released Wednesday reveals a huge hurdle for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democratic legislative leaders, who negotiated the package to deal with the state's $42 billion shortfall.
The poll finds likely voters are skeptical that Proposition 1A will solve the state's roller coaster budgets.
The centerpiece measure trails in the survey by 9 percentage points.
Likely voters also are wary that Proposition 1C will generate higher lottery earnings simply by increasing prize payouts.
The poll found 59 percent opposed it.
Supporters said working Californians will suffer if the measures fail.
