Officials say six people were injured Friday when an elderly woman drove her car into a La Mirada restaurant as people were eating lunch.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. John Gannon says 82-year-old Laureen Bell apparently put her car into drive instead of reverse as she attempted to back away from the Cabo Taco Baja Grill around 1 p.m.
Her Toyota Solara lunged forward, hopped a concrete block and smashed through the restaurant's wall. The car took out four or five tables and stopped at the back wall of the restaurant.
Six people including Bell were hospitalized. Injuries ranged from a broken leg to chest pains and none were life threatening. The incident is under investigation and Gannon doesn't know if Bell will face charges.
