Police Accidentally Shoot Man Instead Of Pit Bull

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) ― San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies have accidentally wounded a man while serving a narcotics search warrant.

A sheriff's spokeswoman says deputies went to a Fontana home on Thursday afternoon and saw two people outside. The spokeswoman says a pit bull ran toward a deputy, who shot at it but hit a man in the leg.

Rudy Silvain, 20, was treated for a minor wound. Silvain says he was just visiting the home and had been ordered to the ground by deputies when the shooting occurred.

A 22-year-old woman was then arrested for possessing narcotics.

The pit bull was quarantined.
