Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says California's budget deficit is widening by the day.
Schwarzenegger is warning education, law enforcement and health care groups that they will face midyear cuts. He met with law enforcement representatives in his office today.
Finance officials initially pegged the shortfall at $3 billion. However, the governor says the deficit is now at least $5 billion more than anticipated.
Schwarzenegger plans to call lawmakers back for a special legislative session on the budget and state economy the day after the election.
