Retired Pasadena Police Lt. Found Dead

Lieutenant Richter Had Been Missing Since December 21

IRWINDALE, Calif. A retired Pasadena police lieutenant missing since Dec. 21 was found under a freeway overpass of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, the coroner's office reported Monday.

The body of 55-year-old David Henry Richter was found decomposed on or near Rivergrade Road in Irwindale about 12:35 p.m. Thursday by a Caltrans worker, said assistant coroner's chief Ed Winter.

The cause of death could not be determined in an autopsy, and further tests are pending. Winter said the death is being treated as a possible suicide.

Richter was last seen alive on Dec. 21 in his hometown of Arcadia.

There was no sign of foul play at his home, Arcadia police Sgt. Dean Caputo said.
