Crash Backs Up Traffic On WB Pomona Freeway

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (AP) ― Morning commuter traffic was tied up for 3 1/2 hours in the Diamond Bar area because of a westbound Pomona Freeway crash involving three cars and a big-rig hauling animal fat.

California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin says three lanes of state Highway 60 were closed down from 5:01 a.m. to 8:37 a.m.

Westbound traffic was backed up about 10 miles to Interstate 15 while commuters got past the mess using only the car pool and left lane.

The California Department of Transportation was dispatched to clean up an oil spill, but the CHP says the substance spilled was some type of animal fat.

Details of the crash aren't clear and it's unknown if anyone is hurt.
