Police Hunt 2 Compton Murder Suspects

COMPTON Police are looking for two suspects in the Wednesday shooting death of a 27-year-old man in Compton.

A 17-year-old boy was also critically wounded in the shooting that occured around 2:45 in the 100 block of South Tamarind Ave, near Compton Boulevard.

Deputy Oscar Butao of the sheriff's headquarters bureau identified the deceased as Frank Bazua of Compton.

No arrests had been made as of early Thursday, said Detective Mitch Robison of the sheriff's homicide bureau.

Bazua was sitting in his parked vehicle in a driveway, talking with the 17-year-old, when a green compact stopped in front of the driveway, Butao said.

A male got out of the car's front passenger side, yelled obscenities and opened fire with a handgun, striking Bazua in the chest several times, according to police. The boy was hit multiple times in the legs.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where Bazua was pronounced dead
and the teenager was listed in critical condition.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

Homicide detectives are seeking the public's help. Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
