Friends of a Narbonne High School football player, who was gunned down at a restaurant Sunday, planned to hold a vigil Monday night at the shooting scene.
Dannie Farber Junior, 18, was a graduating senior at Narbonne High School and played wide receiver on the Los Angeles city co-champion football team.
Relatives mourning outside the restaurant said his performance earned him a college scholarship.
The shooting, which happened at 1950 W. Rosecrans Ave., occurred as Farber ate dinner at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, sheriff's Lt. Dave Dolson said.
The description of the lone gunman, who reportedly ran from the scene, was not released.
Deputies said they did not know if surveillance video caught the incident.
Sheriff's deputies asked anyone with more information to call detectives Toni Martinez or Eddie Brown at (323) 890-5500.
